Why Kitchensmiths

Five stages, one designer, and nobody handing you over

Specialist and kitchen shop get used interchangeably. They aren’t the same thing, and the difference shows up in the parts of a kitchen you can’t see in a showroom.

How we work

Six things we hold to on every kitchen

We design the room

A complete solution built around how you cook, eat and move through the space.

We survey before we order

Services, levels and tolerances measured on site, by the fitter who will install it.

We install it ourselves

Our own fitters, electrician and plumber. We give you a schedule and stick to it, starting one kitchen fit and one strip-out a week.

We integrate the appliances

Clearances, ventilation and sockets resolved on the plan rather than on the day.

We hold every thread

Plastering, tiling, gas, decorating and flooring coordinated by us. One number to ring.

We’re still here afterwards

We’re not going anywhere, and it’s the same people to call in five years if you need a door adjusting or help with a filter change.

The process

From first appointment to the day we leave

01

Design consultation

We invite you to the showroom in Histon and, wherever possible, you’re the only visitor while you’re with us. Explore the displays, the finishes and the samples without anyone hovering — work out what you like and, just as usefully, what you don’t. Then we sit down over a coffee and talk about your room.

02

Home visit

Your designer visits your home, assesses the space and takes precise measurements — and while there, will happily advise on the things that sit alongside the kitchen: wall and floor tiles, paint colours, lighting. Before anything is shown to you, the drawing is checked by the rest of the team. Fresh eyes catch what familiar ones miss.

03

Presentation

You receive photorealistic images, full printed plans and elevations, and an itemised quotation. Then we change whatever needs changing. Tweaks, swaps, or an entirely different approach. There’s no limit on revisions and no pressure at the end of them. Only once you’re genuinely happy do we order, confirm and take a deposit.

04

Installation

Four fitters, one a qualified electrician, one a plumber and one a tiler, supported by specialist subcontractors we’ve used for years. They wear our uniform, drive our vans and carry the right tools. Removal and disposal of the old kitchen, plastering, plumbing and electrics are all part of the same job, managed by us.

05

Aftercare

Having a kitchen fitted is disruptive, so we over-communicate: progress updates, straight answers, and a table-top cooker lent to you so you can still make dinner. We don’t leave until you’re satisfied. Once the work is complete and the final invoice is settled, we hand over your warranty and aftercare information.

Your money

Deposits protected, work independently vetted

We’ve traded successfully for over thirty years, but longevity isn’t the same as a guarantee. The KBSA is the only UK body representing the kitchen industry, with around 300 independent retailers and a long-standing reputation as the industry’s quality benchmark.

All our work is backed by the insurance-based Consumer Care Plus scheme, so your deposit, staged payments and work in progress are protected — and our standards are continually vetted rather than self-declared.
